Jai Jawan. Jai Artisan.
India has always been regarded as the land of art and culture. We Indians take great pride in the works of our artists from across states. But the pandemic has changed everything, and has caused havoc in the lives and livelihoods of people. These artisans in particular have been hit very hard. Majority of their sales happen through exhibitions and tourism. For the last few months both these avenues are completely closed, leading to a loss of livelihood for thousands of artisans.
In our endeavour to help the artisans regain their livelihoods, we are happy to announce the launch of ‘Jai Jawan.Jai Artisan’ an initiative through Habba– our online marketplace for handmade in India, with a fair pricing policy.
Jai Jawan. Jai Artisan has been launched in response to the plight of these artisans, whose livelihoods are severely affected by the pandemic. Through this campaign we enable citizens to buy and gift Rakhis made by artisans across India and send it along with a gratitude message, to our soldiers who protect us in the borders.
We are working with artisan communities in Pithoragarh and Champawat in Uttarakhand, Dharmapuri in Tamil Nadu, Kutch in Gujarat, and Jamshedpur in Jharkhand.
Gift a Rakhi as a mark of your gratitude to our Jawans.
In turn, restart the livelihood of artisans.
