The thought that cropped up in the mind of Rajendra Ratnoo, IAS, appointed by Govt of India as the Central Nodal Officer to Tamil Nadu, was shared as a concept note with Dr N Manavalan, Principal, Govt Yoga and Naturopathic Medical College and Hospital, Chennai. As a result qualified  𝗬𝗼𝗴𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘆 doctors in #TamilNadu have also joined hands and are contributing in the management of #COVID19 pandemic crisis by 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 Yoga & Naturopathy clinical services in quarantine and isolation wards 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗰 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗰𝗼𝗹. This is being done not only to help patients but also to put efficacy of these systems to 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗦𝗰𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 under guidance of a team of qualified researchers  𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗿 𝗡 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻, 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝘁 . 𝗬𝗼𝗴𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗰 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹, 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗻𝗮𝗶. Some of the medical colleges, where these services are provided are Omandurar Medical College, Stanley Medical College, Kilpauk Medical College, Vellore Medical College, and Thoothukudi Medical College.

The Yoga & Naturopathy interventions  included 𝘆𝗼𝗴𝗮 (asana, pranayama, meditation & kriya); 𝗵𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗽𝘆– hot water drinking, hot water gargling and steam inhalation; 𝗮𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗽𝘆 -eucalyptus oil, peppermint oil & thyme oil;  𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻- natural immune boosting fresh juice & natural immune boosting hot drink made of natural herbal dietary supplements including gooseberry, lemon, ginger, tulsi, turmeric, pepper, liquorice, coriander seeds, etc and 𝗦𝘂𝗻 𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗵.

The impact of these therapeutic interventions is being recorded for the #COVID 19 patients  in the 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 where these therapies are given and will be compared with the #COVID 19 patients in 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 where these yoga & naturopathic interventions are not there due to unwillingness of patients.

Very excited about the outcome of this study ! If successful, the results of this study will have potential to be replicated not only in India but also in other countries as well. My heartfelt 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗛&𝗙𝗪,  𝗗𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀 of the respective medical colleges and other doctors from allopathic medicine, who are the real frontline warriors, who have cooperated in this pilot study cum intervention. This is best example of how different systems of health and medicine can 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁; 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝘀 and limitation
